The USA pageant took place Sunday night in Sin City. Hosts Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic announced Alyssa Campanella as the new Miss USA 2011. Campanella strutted across the stage in a tiny blue bikini with white polka dots and an emerald green Sherri Hill evening gown. The stunning custom dress featured a tulle bodice studded with French beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals, and a skirt made of silk taffeta, which was then fashioned with horsehair to give the dress its architectural shape.
The 21-year old beauty from Los Angeles was crowned by 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih. Alyssa is a model/actress who has been competing in pageants since she was 15. She is also “a huge history geek”. Campanella was a favorite of many since the first few minutes of the competition, however the young lady is off the market. She is dating “Tudors” actor Torrance Coombs who was ecstatic for his girlfriend’s accomplishment. Alyssa will represent the United States in this year’s Miss Universe pageant in September in Brazil.
