This summer is all about colors. We are seeing lots of white, nude, beige and cream. At the same time we are seeing bright gorgeous colors. The little black dress doesn’t have to be black any longer. It’s safe to go with brown, plum, navy. We are seeing flowing fabrics and lose fits that are so feminine. Softer and more relaxed silhouettes have been overtaking the fashion scene.
Here is a list of summer staple items:
A pair of tailored shorts that are dressy enough to wear to work, but can be paired with a tank top for an easy weekend outfit.
A lightweight top with the sleeves rolled up and collar open that invokes a classic, laid back summer look.
Nautical stripes that look great paired up with classic summer accessories.
A little white dress that can be enhanced with a pop of color. (See photo above: dress, belt & ring from http://www.thestylishgirl.com)
A maxi dress that will make you feel cool and breezy and will also accentuate your figure.
A faded denim jacket that will make a neutral palette outfit look more casual.
Chunkier platform heels that are really comfortable and also easy to pair with casual outfits.
Megan Fox Who??! Megan might have sex appeal, but Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has beauty, elegance and style. The 24 year old is a Victoria’s Secret model as well as the face of Burberry.
Once the director of Transformers Michael Bay, and his lead actress, Megan Fox started having a disagreement, the biggest challenge was finding Megan’s replacement. This move was going to make or break Dark of the Moon. It appears that Bay made the right decision by choosing Rosie who is beyond gorgeous with her tawny hair, pouty lips, striking blue eyes, and a tall, lean build.
The supermodel turned actress has had a great year so far. In 2011, Maxim magazine ranked her No.1 in its “Hot 100” list. FHM also voted her No.1 in its World’s Sexiest Woman of 2011 poll.
At the New York premiere of “Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon”, Rosie stepped out looking stunning in a strapless, red Antonio Berardi gown with a dramatic slit topped off with a wavy ‘do. At the London premiere, the British beauty dazzled in a plunging blue Burberry gown. Rosie has caused a sensation at each promotional stop as she traveled the globe.

Blue is this summer’s new shade. From turquoise to cobalt, blue nail polish shades work great for both manis and pedis.
Nude heels give the illusion of longer legs, and a vibrant pedicure shade poking out of those peep-toes jazzes up the neutral shoe.
Spice up your little black dress by adding one of this summer’s hottest nail colors; yellow. A sun-gold yellow nail color is a great way to punch up your look with a bright accent.
Coral nail polish is very feminine. The peachy-pink shade is the perfect pedicure color and flatters all skin tones.
A neutral manicure is like foundation for your fingertips—hands look slimmer and instantly more polished.
Red remains a universally flattering nail color. It can be worn simultaneously on the nails and toes for a very polished and stylish look.
Slick on a rich black nail polish and don’t forget to add a super-shiny topcoat.
Pair a sweet pink nail polish shade with bad-girl shoes.
To get a rocker-chic look, let one nail stand out from the rest.

False eyelashes were first invented for producer D.W. Griffith who wanted to enhance one of his actresses eyes in a 1916 film. The eyelashes were made out of human hair.
The use of perfume goes as far back as the Egyptian era, where they would use perfume in religious rituals. The modern era of perfume began in 1921 with Coco Chanel’s launch of Chanel No. 5, an exotic floral blend, created by Ernest Beaux.
Married men in France use more cosmetics than their wives.
Egyptian women used henna to lighten their hair.
The average woman consumes 6lb of lipstick in her lifetime.
The first hair perm in 1906 required the client to sit for six hours with a dozen brass curlers in her hair. Each curler weighed nearly 2lb, making it the equivalent of wearing 48 large potatoes on her head.
The USA pageant took place Sunday night in Sin City. Hosts Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic announced Alyssa Campanella as the new Miss USA 2011. Campanella strutted across the stage in a tiny blue bikini with white polka dots and an emerald green Sherri Hill evening gown. The stunning custom dress featured a tulle bodice studded with French beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals, and a skirt made of silk taffeta, which was then fashioned with horsehair to give the dress its architectural shape.
The 21-year old beauty from Los Angeles was crowned by 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih. Alyssa is a model/actress who has been competing in pageants since she was 15. She is also “a huge history geek”. Campanella was a favorite of many since the first few minutes of the competition, however the young lady is off the market. She is dating “Tudors” actor Torrance Coombs who was ecstatic for his girlfriend’s accomplishment. Alyssa will represent the United States in this year’s Miss Universe pageant in September in Brazil.
More and more celebrities have been embracing the bohemian trend. They have been seen wearing different types of feather extensions in a variety of colors. This fashion trend has been followed by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Hilary Duff, Kesha, Selena Gomez , Cassie Scerbo, Bella Thorne and Taryn Manning to name a few.
If you haven’t read the Skinny Bitch yet, you should be warned! This is a book by two smart-mouthed girlfriends who do NOT sugar coat anything. Not everyone will agree with everything these ladies have to say, however they do back up their statements by mentioning research that has been done on the particular subjects. Below are some favorite segments taken from the book:
-Cigarettes are for losers. They are so 1989 and totally uncool.
-Habitual drinking equals fat-pig syndrome.
-Beer is for frat boys, not skinny bitches.
-When you have a hangover, you’re bound to eat shit all day long.
-Soda is liquid Satan. And the last time we checked, sugar, found in soda by the boatload does not make you skinny!
-Perhaps you have a lumpy ass because you are preserving your fat cells with diet soda.
-Whenever you see the words “fat-free” or “low-fat” think of the words “chemical shit storm”.
Caffeine – If you can’t wake up without it, it’s because you are either addicted to caffeine, sleep deprived, or a generally unhealthy slob. So every single morning, you are starting the day with a dose of poison.
Junk Food – Candy bars, potatoes chips and ice cream taste like heaven of course. But they will pitch a tent on your hips and camp out all year.
Carbs – Simple carbohydrates suck and are as nutritionally beneficial as toilet paper.
Sugar – Sugar is like crack and food manufacturers know that if they add it to their products, you’ll keep coming back for more. Refined sugar has no nutritional value. And it’s usually in foods that contain gobs of fat, lots of useless calories, and loads of cholesterol.
Meat – Your body can’t handle animal fat, so it settles like lumpy shit all over your ass, thighs, sides, arms and stomach. Every time you consume factory-farmed chicken, beef, veal, pork, eggs or diary, you are eating antibiotics, pesticides, steroids and hormones.
Cheese – Virtually 100% of the cheese products produced and sold in the US has detectable pesticide residues.
Eggs – When you eat eggs, you are ingesting all the same hormones, pesticides, chemicals and steroids as if you were eating the chicken directly.
Even if you don’t lean towards a vegetarian and organic diet, as these ladies do, this information is definitely interesting. If you would like to know more, pick up the Skinny Bitch book. After all, as they say, you are what you eat.
One of the most popular trends for this summer continues to be the feather hair extensions. This video shows you how easy it is to apply and remove them the proper way with the right tools.
