Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Details

On August 20th, took place the most lavish wedding of the year.  It has been referred to as the America’s Royal Wedding. Kim Kardashian married NBA star Kris Humphries.

Kim indulged in about $150,000 worth of grooming services to get ready for the wedding. She even tweeted about her late night brow touch up.  Inspired from Kate Middleton’s royal wedding, Kim went for a natural, classic look. Celebrity makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, created her signature look; a soft muted smokey eye, big lashes, full brows, a rosey pink blush and glossy coral lips. Kim also changed her hair into a minky brown that was close to her natural color.

Kim walked down the isle looking like an Armenian princess in a custom-designed Vera Wang ball gown with an epic train. Her ivory gown had a full tulle skirt, basque waist and hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique on the bodice, train and veil. It is believed that the cost of this Vera Wang masterpiece was around $25,000. The traditional veil remained off her face and her tresses were pulled back into a tight chignon. Her updo by Peter Savic was accessorized with an Audrey Hepburn inspired 65-carat jeweled headband. The Lorraine Schwartz diamond headpiece cost $2.5 million. She wore close to $15 million in diamonds. The jewels were her something borrowed. Kim wore shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. She carried a bouquet of white roses which was the flower of the evening.  Her stepfather, Bruce Jenner was by her side and the maids of honor standing at the altar. The bride and the groom were beaming with happiness. Nephew, Mason Disick, served as a ring bearer. He stole the show with his toddler strut down the aisle.  The couple exchanged rings by Lorraine Schwartz who also designed the 20.5 carat emerald-cut engagement ring. Kim and Kris said their “I Dos” in front of 450 guests. The program passed out to guests included tributes to Humphries’ late grandmother and grandfather, as well as to Kim’s late father, attorney Robert Kardashian.

The wedding took place in a private Montecito, California estate. The wedding planner, Sharon Sacks, mixed tradition with over the top glamour. The ceremony had a classic black and white theme with a hint of pink. The reception followed the same theme, decked out in glam, old-Hollywood ambiance. The hundreds of celebrity guests adhered to a black and white dress code. The altar was a big cross made of  Swarovski crystals. The aisle was lined with citrus trees sprouting cascades of white roses and hydrangea. Thousands of white roses ($50,000) were incorporated in the decor. Everything was timeless and classic.

The thirty minute ceremony was followed by an ongoing reception. Robin Thicke was on hand to introduce “Mr. and Mrs. Humphries,” and then the couple enjoyed their first dance to Thicke’s “Angels.”  Stepfather Bruce Jenner gave a quick heartfelt speech toasting the newlyweds. Sisters Kourtney and Khloe did the same. Wolfgang Puck catered the dinner which included a seasonal menu of heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella, hand-formed agnolotti with sweet corn mascarpone, or roast chicken with Yukon Gold potato puree, caramelized brussels sprouts, and of course their favorite, summer truffles. Kim and Kris walked around and greeted their guests.  Robin Thicke also performed  “Lost Without You,” as well as Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”. Stevie Wonder was supposed to be a surprise for Kim, but he never showed up. Earth Wind & Fire and DJ Cassidy got the party started which led celebrity guests to the dance floor.  Celebrity pals included Ciara, Lala Vasquez, Venus and Serena Williams, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, Eva Longoria with date Eduardo Cruz, and Mario Lopez. Kendall, Kylie, Khloe and Kourtney changed into comfortable matching white Juicy Couture tracksuits that read “Team Hump”.

The black and white tiered cake ($10,000) designed by Hansen Cakes in LA was six-foot tall and inspired by the Royal Wedding. The eight octagonal tiers alternated flavors; marble cake and chocolate butter creme with white chocolate chips, and vanilla with chocolate chip filling. The lucky Brittany Gastineau caught Kim’s wedding bouquet. Kim caught the bouquet at Khloe’s wedding.

Kim wore her own custom fragrance, oriental floral Kim Kardashian Love Fragrance, which she created specifically for her special day. She opted for almost-pink white nails.

As most brides can only dream of wearing Vera Wang on their wedding day, Kim changed into two more dresses for the reception. To dance with her husband, she wore an ivory georgette mermaid dress with hand pieced Chantilly lace applique on the bodice, which was her favorite. The skirt had hand cut organza petals intermixed with Chantilly lace motifs and organza spring embroidery. The third one was an ivory bias cup crepe back satin v-neck gown in a sexy circle skirt. The bridesmaids looked stunning in their ivory mermaid gowns. Kim’s mother, Kris, opted to wear a bow-detailed dress. Kim’s dresses as well as those of the bridesmaids’ and mothers’ cost around $150,000. Kris Humphries wore a custom white peak lapel tuxedo jacket, black pants and white bow tie, all by Ermenegildo Zegna. The groom changed into a black jacket and tie by the same designer to match his groomsmen. The suits were made to measure and cost an estimated $3,500 each.

The locals complained about the noise, therefore the party shut down around midnight.  Guests left with a notepad featuring the happy couple’s picture, a candle wrapped in a KK-embroidered box, plus heart-shaped Krispy Kreme donuts.

Kim and Kris used Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s wedding as an example by asking guests to leave their cell phones and cameras at the door upon arrival. The reason was because People Magazine had agreed to pay $1.5 million for the exclusive rights to run the first photos. However, plenty of TV cameras were present to document the lavish nuptials. E!News will air a two-part special, Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event on October 9 & 10.

Two days after the wedding, they headed off for a quick European honeymoon. The newlyweds visited a few different parts of Europe, but the exclusive honeymoon destination was the island of Capri. As if their wedding wasn’t an over the top fairytale, a welcome to NY party awaits them at the end of the month.

Stay tuned for the specific makeup used on Kim and for more photos from the wedding album.

XOXO,
