Healthy Breakfast Ideas

To live a healthy lifestyle, you have to start the day right by eating a nutritious meal. Below are some breakfast ideas that are also really tasty.

1. omlette – egg whites, veggies, whole wheat toast

2. protein shake – whey protein, 100% cocoa, frozen banana, frozen berries

3. oatmeal – steel cut oats, cinnamon, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts

Coffee still remains debatable. A few years ago, experts recommended not drinking any coffee, now they are saying that 1-2 cups is acceptable. Since the consumption of caffeine has been so questionable, why not stick with a drink that provides a little bit of caffeine to wake you up, but also offers other tremendous benefits? Green tea contains powerful anti – oxidants and it aids in weight loss.

Should You Eat After 6pm?

One of the misconceptions of losing weight is not eating after 6pm. What’s more important is not when you eat, but what you eat. If you live a healthy lifestyle, you eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains and exercise regularly, eating a healthy snack at 9pm will not cause you to gain weight. On the other hand, if you eat crap all day and then some more in front of the TV before bed, you will most likely gain weight. Remember, the key is the total number of calories you take in, how many calories you burn and the quality of food you eat.

3 Ways to Fight Cellulite

Unfortunately, most women are prone to getting cellulite. What you put in your month is one of the biggest factors that results in receiving that cottage cheese appearance on your thighs. Fried foods and white flour are the biggest enemy. To fight cellulite, drink lots of water and eat foods that contain large amounts of H2O such as apples, grapes and cucumber. Skin that is well hydrated will look healthier and plumper. Also, eat foods that are loaded with Vitamin C which prevents collagen breakdown. Snack on colorful veggies to receive up to 75 milligrams of C daily. Don’t forget to eat whole grains which provide fiber and make you full faster. Exercise is another way to fight cellulite. Even though we cannot spot reduce, we can certainly reduce the overall body fat and focus on specific exercises that target our thighs and butt such as squats, lunges and leg curls. To diminish the appearance of cellulite, opt for lotions that contain caffeine. Caffeine can enhance fat metabolism and also reduce some of the edema, or swelling, so the skin appears smoother.

If you consistently follow a routine of healthy living, you will see that your cellulite will slowly start disappearing. Even though, our genes play a big part in this, we can definitely control cellulite for the most part.

Coffee or Energy Drink?

When you need a little pick me up, what do you tend to reach for; coffee or an energy drink? The best choice would be a cup of joe because it gives you a natural boost and only a few calories. Energy drinks are full of artificial sweeteners or sugar. Coffee beans also have disease-fighting antioxidants. Energy drinks usually lead to anxiety and jitters due to the amount of caffeine they have.

Smart Women Invest in Roth IRAs

Sometimes we have to make small sacrifices to have a better future. Passing on buying a pair of shoes might seem very hard to do, but investing that money towards your 401K will be so much more rewarding in the long run. The best way to invest in your future, is to convert your 401(k) or traditional IRA into a Roth IRA. The current disadvantage is that you will have pay taxes on the amount you invest, but if you convert a small portion at a time, it won’t be that bad.

How is a Roth IRA different from a traditional IRA in the long run? Since you have already paid taxes on a Roth IRA, when retired, you get to take out all the money in your Roth without paying any tax on it. It is better to pay taxes now rather than later because there is every reason to believe that tax rates are going to be higher in the future. If the account has been open for at least five years and you are 59 1/2 when you take it out, your money will not be taxed. Another bonus, you can always withdraw any money you originally contributed to your Roth at any time without any penalties. Only the growth must stay until you reach the specified age. Also you are not required to make any withdrawals unlike with the traditional 401K, you can leave the money growing and eventually pass it along your heirs as a tax-free inheritance.

A small sacrifice today such as investing a small portion consistently and paying taxes now on a Roth IRA, will yield significant gains in the future.
