Red Hot

Red lipstick seems to be a very popular beauty trend right now. Celebrities are sporting different shades, from juice tangerine for the fresh spring look, coral to brighten up the face, a rose tint to bring out a glowing skin and a dark red for dramatic effect. Red was also the color of the night at the 2011 Academy Awards,  from the gowns to the lipsticks. Red color is sensual and hot, still elegant and classy. If chosen properly, based on skin tone, red lipstick can look glamorous on anyone. It is safe to say that red lipstick is a timeless essential in a woman’s makeup bag.

Look Younger

Halt the signs of aging in five ways:

1. Get a good night’s sleep. When skin is deprived of sleep, it can become dull, pale and lifeless.
2. Eat a balanced, healthy diet. Be sure to eat antioxidant-rich foods which destroy free radicals and are beneficial for overall health.
3. Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps the skin become less susceptible to wrinkles.
4. Exercise regularly. Exercise improves circulation, ensuring the optimal flow of blood and nutrients to skin for a radiant glow.
5. Wear sunscreen. Protect your skin from UV rays that cause premature aging
Living a healthy lifestyle will make you feel and look better.

2011 Oscars

The stars dazzled on the red carpet this year.  Sequin and crystal-sprinkled fabrics in soft tones were one of the night’s prettiest trends.  Also, red was prevalent in shades that ran from vintage scarlet to burgundy lace.  Mila Kunis wowed in a romantic lavender lace Elie Saab gown with a grosgrain ribbon waist and peekaboo detailing. Reese Witherspoon looked chic in a classic Giorgio Armani Prive black and white gown and a voluminous retro updo.  Scarlett Johansson made a stunning entrance in a cut-out back berry hued Dolce & Gabbana.  She accessorized the column dress with a loose, choppy bob.  Halle Berry showed off her flawless figure in a nude crystal-encrusted Marchesa corset gown with silk tulle ruffles.  Both Kunis and Berry accented their gowns with Neil Lane diamonds.

Lose weight and keep it off!

Now that Valentine’s Day is over and we indulged in chocolate and other goodies, it is time to lose weight and keep it off for good! Every book, TV show or non drastic diet focuses on the same core concepts which have been summarized below:
1. Eat less- Consume less calories and you will lose weight. It’s really that simple. Make sure your diet includes lean protein, fruit and veggies.
2. Exercise – Speed up your weight loss by exercising.  Get in the habit of doing some sort of physical activity every day.
3. Eat small portions – As a rule of thumb, one serving should be the size of your palm. Eat more often, but smaller portions.
4. Don’t eat late at night – Turn the kitchen light off after 7 pm and do not open the refrigerator door for the rest of the night. Having enough time to digest the food a few hours before bed time, will help speed up weight loss.
5. Keep a food journal Making a note of every food and drink you consume, will help you stay on the right path.
Follow these 5 steps and you will be ready in no time for spring!
