The term “whole” in WFPB describes foods that are minimally processed. I eat mostly whole, unrefined, plant-based foods because the benefits of this type of healthy lifestyle are enormous:

1. It prevents and reverses disease.
2. It helps with maintaining ideal weight and having more energy.
3. It helps you live longer.

Don’t Be Afraid of The Sun

Sunlight is a great source of vitamin D. It relieves depression and improves mental clarity. 🧠

Sunshine is the best medicine. The sun has been known as a healer for centuries.

Production of Vitamin D from sensible sun exposure is key for overall health & well-being.

The real danger is in the most popular sunscreens.

Sunscreens block your skin from making Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is a cause of cancer.

Most sunscreens are toxic. Avoid sunscreens with these chemicals:

Oxybenzone/Octinoxate/Avobenzone/Homosalate/OctisalateOctocrylene.

Certain chemicals in sunscreens may pose a risk to male infertility and also affect brain health.

Certain ingredients in sunscreens are killing coral reefs around the world which affects climate change.

Higher sun sensitivity is caused by certain medications such as antibiotics and birth control pills.

Look for sun protection that contains zinc oxide, which helps reflect UVA and UVB rays from the body.

It’s best to limit exposure when sun’s rays are strongest between 10 AM and 4 PM.

Protection is minimal after SPF of 15 which blocks 93% of UVB rays.

Coconut oil has a low natural SPF and it has been used by islanders for hundreds of years to gently moisturize skin.

There are ways to make your own safe sunscreen, typically by using coconut oil, zinc and shea butter.

While I don’t have a favorite cookbook, I have many favorite books about health and wellness. However, the book that changed everything for me is “The Truth About Cancer” (not featured here). This was a very eye-opening book about why the medical system in the US is focused on treating symptoms and not discovering the root cause of illnesses. 🤯

Studies have shown that reading, reduces stress levels by 68%, more so than talking a walk or drinking a cup of tea. 📖 What book are you currently reading? 📕
